I really hate to do this... But I need your help...

Reblogged from Alexandra's Adventures in Books:

Last Thursday Lissa (my better half) and I adopted a new cat.

She is gorgeous, the sweetest little thing ever. She loves cuddles and is so squee she made my heart melt... And I'm not swayed easily.

But when we got her home we noticed something was wrong, see she sneezed on Lissa and the discharge was streaked with blood and one of her hind legs didn't move properly... We took her to the vet. They ran blood tests and determined she had a cold like infection. They did X-rays and then we got some bad news.

This sweet, adorable little one year old cat had been living wild in the middle of nowhere in Australia. She has scarred little ears. She's skinny and small... And she was hit by a car. Her pelvis and leg had been broken and her hip had been dislocated. The fractures healed quite well, if not perfectly, but the dislocation didn't. The ball at the top of the femur is out of place and needs surgery to fix it.

The diagnosis cost us nearly $600. The surgery could cost us another 1500. We need help.

We have set up a GOfundme account to help raise $2000 to cover all the vets bills.

We want to make her life as happy and comfortable as we can. And we want her to be healthy...

Please help us.

Awww, this made me think of Grimlock.  Plus, awwwww.

I know you can't see me, but I'm smiling

Magic Bites - Ilona Andrews

Yes, I'm happy.  I'm late to the game, and I'll admit I was skeptical about the Kate Daniels series. There was so much gushing, raving, and love about these books.  How could they possibly live up to the hype?

This book surpassed the hype.  Kate Daniels is awesome.

"Here kitty, kitty."

Ya got me, Kate.

Reading progress update: I've read 250 out of 378 pages.

The Iron Duke - Meljean Brook

Steel sharks!  Unkillable kitties!  A Kraken!  I may have found a new genre to love.

Still not digging the relationship between the Duke and Mina.  I am kinda understanding Mina's attraction, but I just don't feel it.

But, armored cats?  How can I not love?

The Iron Duke - Meljean Brook

I'm not sure how I feel about this book yet.  This is my first time reading steampunk, and I really want to like it.  The world building is plausible and detailed.

But, the hero is seriously pissing me off.  I love Mina.  She is tough, smart, and all around awesome. But, Rhys is the type of hero I cannot stand. He's too alpha.  Normally, I would stop reading, but Mina is such a badass, I'm hoping his alpha male "I will grab you and kiss you, even when you tell me no!" will end once he gets a good kick in the nuts from Mina.

Here's hoping.

Beautiful rubbish.

My First Review

In yo face, Amazon.

This is Gun Rights?

Gun rights gone to the extreme. Not surprising, it's in Texas.

I have lived in Texas all my life.  I'm done. I cannot live in a state that believes this is okay. I hear North Caroline is pretty....

When "Right To Carry" Isn't Right

When your right to own a gun is more important than my basic freedom, we have a problem.  If this group's point was that guns scare the fuck out of people, then good job. It sure as hell didn't represent freedom. Patrons were terrified to leave the restaurant. Yay, freedom.  You win, assholes.

I have lived in this state my entire life, and I just can't do it anymore. I hear North Carolina is pretty.

TV: Orphan Black – Season 1

Reblogged from Literary Ames:

My rating:

As Sarah would say: Fan-bloody-tastic!

Except I’m not being sarcastic.

A truly thrilling wild ride of conspiracies and spies. The intense suspense of the finale had me on the edge of my seat screaming “Nooooo!” when the credits ran.

'Orphan Black is a Canadian science fiction television series starring Tatiana Maslany as several identical women who are revealed to be clones. The series focuses on Sarah Manning, a woman who assumes the identity of her clone, Elizabeth Childs, after witnessing the latter’s suicide. The series raises issues about the moral and ethical implications of human cloning and its impact on issues of personal identity.' [Source: Wikipedia]

[REBLOG] BEWARE OF GOODREADS BOOK GIVEAWAYS! YOUR personal information is being shared!

Reblogged from Thalia @ Pictures in the Words:

Amanda Welling shares a screenshot of author's discussing "trolls," where it was reveled that several authors are collecting readers' personal information, via Book Giveaways, into a spreadsheet to "track and identify trolls."

There's no indication of what they plan to do with this informations, but the fact that none of these authors are respecting the privacy of potential readers is worrisome enough.

Whether you believe you're one of the "trolls" being targeted is beside the point, everyone should be concerned, if not outright pissed. The personal information of ALL the participants in these giveaways is being shared without their permission.

Not surprising, GoodReads has absolutely nothing safeguarding privacy of the participants' personal information in the Terms & Conditions of their giveaways.
